Bay du Nord was unveiled as an oil discovery in August, since which time a sidetrack was started, giving Statoil and partner, Husky Energy, a better under- standing of the reservoir.
Drilled by Seadrill’s semi-submersible West Aquarius in exploration licence 1112, the Bay du Nord C-78Z probe hit 34 degrees API crude in “excellent” Jurassic reservoirs with high porosity and high permeability, according to Statoil.
