Alfa Sentral, a gas and condensate reservoir, crosses the UK-Norwegian offshore boundary and holds about 60 million barrels of oil equivalent.
It is set to be developed as a tie-back to the existing Sleipner infrastructure in the Norwegian sector, which Statoil operates.
Statoil said concept selection for the project was passed last month and that negotiations to unitise the field will start shortly.
