Norwegian oil company Statoil is pressing ahead with efforts to secure an operating interest in the Karabakh project off Azerbaijan and the company also interested in other opportunities.
Statoil is considering the option of using the semi-submersible Dede Gorgud to drill on the block if it get access.
There are also hopes that if oil is found it can be developed economically given the existing infrastructure in the region.
