NORWAY’S Statoil is gearing up to spud up to 10 more deep-water exploration and appraisal wells in the oil-rich Flemish Pass basin off Newfoundland, Canada.

The wells will be drilled in 2016-2017 and focus on waters in the vicinity of the company’s 300 million to 600 million barrel Bay du Nord oil discovery, which is already at the heart of an ongoing drilling campaign.
