NORWEGIAN operator Statoil is pushing for a simplified development solution for the floating production, storage and offloading vessel it plans to install at the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea that is not based on Norway’s Norsok safety standards and does not include a disconnectible mooring system.
The company is suggesting that a disconnect system will not be needed for Castberg because drifting ice will not pose a threat to the FPSO.
