STATOIL is under renewed safety scrutiny from the authorities after a fire onboard the Saipem-owned semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 5 at its Njord field off Norway, the latest in a series of incidents the operator has faced.
The Italian rig contractor has launched an investigation, supported by Statoil, into the incident in which a blaze broke out in one of the rig’s two engine rooms.
