Statoil has launched an ambitious internal project that will see it study every turbine and compressor it operates on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) for possible upgrade or replacement as it “turns every stone” to reduce its carbon footprint.

The focus on turbines and compressors forms part of a broader initiative by the Norwegian state-controlled operator to target emissions reductions.

Statoil’s top management met in Stavanger on Monday this week to discuss the issue.
