Norwegian operator Statoil is stepping up exploration this year, both in Norway and overseas, hoping to find new resources to make up for falling production at ageing fields.

After spudding 23 probes last year, Statoil plans to take part in about 30 operated and non-operated exploration wells in 11 countries in 2017, including Brazil, Indonesia and the UK as well as Norway, the company’s exploration chief Tim Dodson said.
