Statoil has booked the semi-submersible drilling rig Transocean Spitsbergen to carry out a closely-watched three-well summer exploration programme off the UK, writes Rob Watts.
The unit will also carry out a six-well production drilling campaign on the Aasta Hansteen licence off Norway, the Norwegian state-controlled operator said this week.
The UK drilling will comprise operated wells on Statoil’s Mariner, Jock Scott and Verbier licences.
