Norwegian operator Statoil has spudded its latest wildcat off Newfoundland, Canada, targeting further resources to add to its major Bay du Nord discovery in the deep-water Flemish Pass basin.
A well-placed source said the semi-submersible West Hercules has completed appraisal work on Bay du Nord and is now drilling the top hole of the Bay d’Espoir probe, about five kilometres to the west.
