NORWEGIAN operator Statoil is pursuing plans to revive its Bressay heavy oil field development in the UK North Sea via a slimmed down first-phase development centred on a production and drilling jack-up linked to a floating storage unit.
Statoil officials cautioned that nothing can be taken for granted in today’s low oil price environment but confirmed a formal decision to pursue the concept could be taken early next year.
