Rumours of the death of Norway’s oil capital Stavanger may have been exaggerated.
The west coast city’s traditional status as the bastion of the oil industry over the latter’s 50-year history has been under threat during a more than three-year slump that has seen thousands of lay-offs, big financial losses and an investment exodus.
At the same time, there has been a geographical shift with oil companies and contractors relocating to so-called Subsea Valley outside the capital Oslo.
