Steelhead LNG has confirmed that the Kwispaa liquefied natural gas export project in western Canada will move ahead despite the company’s decision last week to halt work amid an intensifying national debate over new oil and gas pipelines and the rights of Canada’s indigenous people.
The decision to call a “time out” on the Kwispaa project will push back the timeline for the 24 million tonnes per annum project, said Nigel Kuzemko, chief executive of Steelhead LNG, which is developing the facility in a joint operation arrangement with the Huu-ay-aht First Nations.
