"We also need to immediately reduce the bureaucracy and we will work with [House of Representatives] Commission VII [that oversees energy issues]," said Jero.
Indonesia's current government might only have six more months in power but remains committed to supporting the industry throughout that time, said Vice President Boediono.
"We will ask [upstream regulator] SKK Migas to look at all the regulations that need to be simplified," he told delegates at the Indonesian Petroleum Association convention.
