According to partner Energy XXI, the US Gulf facility has been shut in for more than 60 days now and it is costing the independent around 1000 barrels of oil equivalent per day net to its interest, said company chief John Schiller.
Schiller was unsure precisely how Fieldwood plans to get the associated pipeline unstuck.
Pigs are run periodically to inspect and scrub the inside walls of pipelines which can see buildup of paraffin and other deposits that can obstruct oil flow.
