The Q5000 entered service in the US Gulf last year, and last month began its first long-term contract, a five-year agreement with BP.
But an apparent problem with the vessel’s intervention riser system has prevented start-up and has required ongoing testing to get it up to appropriate standards.
The vessel has been on location at BP’s Thunder Horse field in Mississippi Canyon Block 778 since early April.
