The original project involved subsea wells feeding production to three tension leg platforms before gas was sent to an onshore processing plant near Groen river mouth, about 108 kilometres to the south-east in Northern Cape province.
The new plan calls for an initial 10 subsea wells linked to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel or semi-submersible production facility.
Output would then most likely be sent via a 400-kilometre offshore pipeline to Eskom’s Ankerlig power station, north of Cape Town.
