An enforcement order was issued by the province’s Department of Environment & Sustainable Resource Development pertaining to its Pond C industrial wastewater effluent, which failed a toxicity test last month.
Suncor operates an industrial wastewater treatment system, including a series of ponds such as Pond C.
A test carried out in March detected above acceptable levels of toxins resulting in the outlet being closed.
