Norwegian authorities are understood to be leaning in favour of supporting Aker BP’s plan to install a huge hub platform in the North of Alvheim (Noaka) area in the North Sea to exploit 500 million barrels oil reserves along with significant upside potential.
Industry sources cautioned that no final decisions have been taken but were consistent in suggesting that the platform solution was finding more support than Statoil's rival plan for a pair of unmanned wellhead platforms and otherwise making use of its existing infrastructure.
