Premier Oil has been “pleasantly surprised” by early talks with Mexican state oil company Pemex regarding the blockbuster Zama discovery off Mexico in which it is a non-operating partner, writes Rob Watts.
Premier confirmed last week that "pre-unitisation" talks have begun over the discovery, which is believed to extend into a neighbouring block.
Speaking to Upstream after the announcement, Premier chief executive Tony Durrant said Zama, operated by US independent Talos Energy, is “probably still going to be the highlight of the year” for his company.
