Tanzania is to carry out joint oil exploration operations with Uganda.
While gas has been discovered onshore Tanzania, much of the country remains unexplored and hopes are high that oil may be struck in the interior.
Tanzania's Energy Minister Medard Kalemani said co-operative teams have already been established to push this vision forward.
The minister, who was speaking at a parliamentary committee on energy and minerals in Dodoma this week, said the help and guidance of Ugandan oil experts would aid its own hunt for crude.
