A Canadian artist has taken to tapestry to tell the epic story of oil's impact on civilisations through the ages.
Sandra Sawatzky, who more usually works through the medium of film, spent nine years painstakingly putting together the Black Gold Tapestry, a hand-embroidered work of art 220 feet long and rich in the history of the industry.
The work takes its inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry, another 220-foot work that recounted the Battle of Hastings in England in 1066.
