The well, which encountered two gas-bearing zones over an interval of between 3228 metres and 3279 metres, will have liner run over the reservoir section before being tied into the existing Beharra Springs facility.
Tarantula-1 was drilled in June 2004 and intersected a hydrocarbon column of unknown extent in the Wagina formation.
However, the well experienced an uncontrolled gas flow at the surface, while a routine wireline survey was being carried out, resulting in injuries to four employees of drilling contractor Century Resources from the hot mud that was discharged.
