Russia’s Tatneftegaz has appealed directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin over Lukoil being the sole official contender for the government’s 50%-plus-one-share stake in state-owned oil producer Bashneft.
In a letter to Putin, Tatneftegaz said it is prepared to pay $4 billion for the stake and another $2 billion for a 25% shareholding held by the Republic of Bashkiria, Bashneft’s core operating region.
