Russia's Gazprom Neft has obtained a seven-year exploration licence for two blocks in East Siberia's Taymyr Dolgano-Nenetsky region as it targets acreage farther east from the Gydan Peninsula, writes Vladimir Afanasiev.
The West Taymyrsky 1 and West Taymyrsky 6 blocks cover a combined 900 square kilometres in the west of the Taymyr Peninsula.
Neither of the blocks has seen any previous exploration and Gazprom Neft will bear all the cost of seismic surveying and any exploration wells if it decides to proceed with drilling.
