The LeTourneau-design unit was due for delivery to the rig owner in the second quarter but this has now been pushed back to mid-August following discovery of the issue during final equipment proving testing before handover.
Lamprell did not reveal the specific issue or which item of equipment has been affected but laid the blame with the original equipment manufacturer. Although the Sharjah-based yard did not identify the owner of the rig involved, the next two of the total of seven rigs it has under construction are due for delivery to Ensco.
