An organisation representing the oil and gas industry in Texas is pushing US federal regulators to make changes to rules regulating produced water ahead of the presidential election in 2020, fearing a new administration could be less friendly to fossil fuel companies.
Officials from the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers met the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy in Washington last week, the organisation's petroleum economist Karr Ingham said this week.
