The shoot will add 2240-line kilometres of new 2D data intended to help evaluate the petroleum potential of the Salawati basin, one of the largest oil basins in the east of the country. Cumulative oil production from the basin to date is more than 300 barrels.
TGS’ multi-client survey is expected to finish by the second quarter. The survey, which has industry pre-funding, is in keeping with the Indonesian government’s aim of attracting new exploration and to boost falling oil output.
