Dozens of companies including FPSO players, shipyards, tanker owners and even some companies no longer in business were invited several months ago to pre-qualify for the FPSO contract by the Thang Long group.
The operating company is still finalising its shortlist of bidders, with between eight and 10 expected to make the cut.
Those selected companies were due to receive an invitation to bid for the FPSO this month, but Thang Long is now looking at late August, said well-placed sources.
