In 2004, the-then Petro-Canada (now part of Suncor) contracted Heerema Fabrication Group to build a steel GBS and deck for De Ruyter.

The field is now operated by South Korea-owned Dana Petroleum after it acquired Petro-Canada’s Dutch assets in 2010.

Heerema built the integrated deck but sub-contracted Dubai Drydocks to fabricate the GBS.

The De Ruyter facilities — in licence P11b — comprise the 10,000-tonne GBS, a 5300-tonne deck and two lattice towers weighing about 2000 tonnes in total.
