Those in the frame, who have already had meetings with Prime Minister Najib Razak, are retired MISC managing director Shamsul Azhar Abbas, the former chief executive of Petronas Gas Wan Zulkiflee bin Wan Ariffin and Petronas Dagangan chairman Anuar Ahmad, according to Malaysian media.
The last two are members of Petronas’ board.
Hassan Marican has been president and chief executive of Petronas since February 1995, six years after he joined the company.
