The operator is being exceedingly tightlipped about both the Hawkes and Timber Wolf discoveries in the Mississippi Canyon area, although the company confirmed that both wells discovered hydrocarbons in miocene reservoirs.
ExxonMobil also added that there are plans to conduct further seismic studies on both projects, but will corroborate little else.
"Hawkes is still being tested and has yet to be completed," said an ExxonMobil spokesman.
