Total was due to meet with South Sudanese oil officials this week as the French giant closes in on a pair of blocks in the fractious oil-rich country.

The French player is set to be joined in re-designated blocks B1 and B2 by Anglo-Irish independent Tullow Oil and Kuwaiti state player Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (Kufpec), South Sudan’s Petroleum Minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth said this week.
