Mexico regulators have divulged in a summary of exploratory activity that Total's initial Etzil-1 well in the deep waters off Mexico was dry, but that report characterised the probe as a stratigraphic well mainly aimed at collecting information and mapping the area's geological column, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
The French major, which drilled the well in partnership with ExxonMobil in Area 2 in the Perdido fold-belt, had previously declined to elaborate to Upstream on the outcome, saying the assessment of the well was still ongoing.
