Industry sources said the Sumate-1 probe hit oil in both Miocene and Upper Oligocene reservoirs.
A flow test could not be carried out because of downhole challenges. “It was not tested because Sumate-1 was a difficult well in terms of drilling,” said an informed source.
The source added that a flow test was also not deemed prudent because the discovery was not as big as hoped for.
