Four companies had been originally invited to bid for the FPSO Prosafe, Saipem, Modec and Vanguard Floating Production of the UK.
The Singaporean company was not on that original list, but was invited later by OMV to participate in the bid, said sources.
Prosafe was the hot favourite for the FPSO, mainly because at least two of the three original contenders had declined to bid.
