Transocean, Dolphin Drilling and Essar chase ONGC rig role

US-based Transocean has 
offered its GSF 135 rig, while 
Indian drilling player Essar has offered the Essar Wildcat.

Dolphin Drilling has offered Blackford Dolphin, which is on charter to Reliance Industries.

“Essar looks like the front-
runner as it has the capacity to 
surprise ONGC with lower rates,” said a source associated with a drilling company.

Essar’s Wildcat is currently on a contract with India’s Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) that expires next month.
