The new drillship, to be named the Discoverer Clear Leader, is expected to take about 30 months to build and is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2009. The rig will be built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding&Marine Engineering at its Okpo yard.
During the first three years of the contract, revenues of about $493 million are possible, according to Transocean.
