The two parties are in talks on a multi-year contract for a jack-up rig, a well-placed source confirmed.
Final terms are still being ironed out but the source said the charter duration is expected to justify either the reactivation of an existing rig or the construction of a newbuild.
Should Transocean decide to go for a newbuild rig, all signals point towards Singapore yard Keppel Fels for the construction contract.
