Swiss-based drilling giant Transocean is understood to have landed an 18-month contract from Reliance Industries for its deep-water drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 (DD-KG-1) to work on the operator's D6 block in the Krishna Godavari basin off India’s eastern coast, writes Nishant Ugal.

Sources close to the tender process told Upstream that Reliance recently placed a letter of award with Transocean covering the charter of the drillship, after a much-delayed tender process.
