A bonded flexible rubber hose bridging the two-kilometre gap between Shell´s Bonga production vessel and the field´s oil export buoy provides the first commercial example of the Trelline system developed by SBM in conjunction with Trelleborg.
The 20-inch internal diameter line is suspended between the Bonga FPSO and buoy in a lazy W configuration around 100 metres below the waves.
As well as pioneering a new materials mix for mid-depth suspended oil export pipes, Trellines also have the commercially attractive characteristic of coming in 12-metre long sections that are bolted together.
