French giant Total, UK supermajor BP and Brazilian independent Queiroz Galvao Exploration & Production (QGEP) have become the first operators to submit drilling plans for the Foz do Amazonas basin off Brazil, with the trio aiming to spud as many as 12 exploration wells in the northern equatorial margin starting next year.

Upstream understands that Total alone will be responsible for the drilling of nine wells in Foz do Amazonas from 2016 to 2018, comprising four at Block FZA-M-57, three at Block FZA-M-88 and two at Block FZA-M-127.
