The US is set to renew sanctions waivers for five Iranian nuclear programmes that allow Russia, China and European countries to continue civilian nuclear cooperation with Tehran in a move that could help ease escalating tensions with Iran, writes Nassir Shirkhani.
US President Donald Trump sided with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who argued for renewing the waivers over objections by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton, the Washington Post said.
