Anglo-Irish independent Tullow Oil and junior block partner Eco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas have started drilling the first exploration well on the Orinduik block off Guyana, hoping to replicate the massive success of an ExxonMobil-led partnership on the nearby Stabroek block, where more than 5 billion barrels of oil equivalent has been discovered.
Drilling operations have started with the spudding of the Jethro-Lobe prospect using the Stena Drilling-owned Stena Forth rig.
