Turkey has bolstered its exploration activities in the eastern Mediterranean after state player Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) started drilling a shallow-water well off the town of Mersin.
The Rowan-owned jack-up Rowan Norway is drilling ahead at the Mersin 1 wildcat, Turkey’s Naval Forces' Office of Navigation, Hydrography & Oceanography (SHODB) recently revealed.
The rig departed Mersin Bay in southern Turkey on 14 November accompanied by three tug boats, the SHODB said.
