ExxonMobil’s Glaucus gas discovery off Cyprus has drawn a sharp warning from Turkey, which maintains any development must be agreed with the breakaway Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, writes Nassir Shirkhani.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said drilling by the US supermajor off Cyprus was not conducive to regional stability.

“We seize this opportunity to reiterate our warning towards the companies involved in the unilateral exploration and exploitation activities of the Greek Cypriot Administration,” a Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
