ConocoPhillips is getting near to selecting its preferred subsea pipeline contractor for the Barossa gas project, which is earmarked to supply gas into the Darwin liquefied natural gas facility, writes Russell Searancke.

Two companies — Allseas and Saipem —are in the running for the big gas export pipeline job with sources suggesting that Allseas has its nose in front.

The subsea gas export pipeline contract, which includes two pipeline-end terminations and various other subsea structures, covers a 260-kilometre 26-inch carbon steel line with concrete coating for stability and mechanical protection.
