The Chevron-led owners of the US$34 billion Wheatstone liquefied natural gas project in Australia have brought on stream the second LNG train.

Wheatstone now has two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum of LNG, with the first train having started up last October.

Co-venturer Woodside said Train 1 had to date run above nameplate capacity "and we will continue to support the operator to maximise reliability".
