The evacuated Atlantia Offshore-designed Typhoon mini-tension leg platform was ripped from its tendons and flipped upside down during last year's Hurricane Rita.
The rogue structure drifted from its installation site in Green Canyon Block 237 to a grounded, post-storm location in Eugene Island block 270 over 50 miles (80 kilometres) away.
A Chevron spokesman would not comment on the reef plan for Typhoon, but said that the company is nearing completion on its root cause analysis of the incident.
