De Margerie said a lot of “hard lobbying” was carried out to get a tax regime which is more adapted to West of Shetland developments.
He said the additional benefits will allow the project to be launched quickly.
Patrice de Vivies, Total’s upstream boss for northern Europe, expects Laggan/Tormore to be sanctioned next month and also welcomed the government’s initiative but suggested more incentives would be appropriate.
